In New Mexico, transfer legislation threatens 16 river runs, 481 climbing areas, and over 670 miles of mountain biking trails. The map below shows some of the most important recreational resources that could be disposed of, transferred, or sold.

Bills in the House and the Senate both proposed the creation of a federal land management study commission.

The commission shall meet regularly and shall study:
(1) options for the transfer of federal lands to the state;
(2) options for the transfer of state and federal lands to the Indian nations, tribes and pueblos of the state;
(3) options for the transfer of state and federal lands to the state’s land grants
